Riddell has introduced every major innovation for helmets since 1939 when the company's plastic helmet with suspension liner was first worn for college football. In 2003, the company launched the Revolution™ Lacrosse helmet, the first helmet based on technology designed with the intent of reducing the likelihood of concussion while expanding the player's peripheral vision and ground/scoop vision.

The extended shell and new padding design provide critical energy deflection and absorption to minimize the potential for concussion.

Extending the shell along the lower face enabled the designers to provide greater peripheral vision, something many lacrosse players indicated was important to them. In addition, the helmet features an innovative new liner system that lets the player, parent or coach fit the helmet to the player's head more effectively.
